Specializing in DBT, emotional regulation, and assessment services in Charlotte, North Carolina
As a parent, it can be painful to watch your child or teenager struggle — whether with big emotions, anxiety, eating concerns, or behaviors that feel out of control. You want to help, but it can be hard to know where to start.
I’m Dr. Heidi Limbrunner, a board-certified Clinical Psychologist in Charlotte, North Carolina. For more than 15 years, I’ve helped children, adolescents, and young adults build the skills, insight, and confidence they need to manage life’s challenges.
Using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Family Based Treatment (FBT) and other evidence-based approaches, I work collaboratively with families to create meaningful, lasting change. My approach is warm, direct, and interactive, focused on helping both teens and parents feel more equipped and connected.
How I Can Help
I specialize in helping young people—and their families—navigate emotional, behavioral, and academic challenges with understanding and clarity.
Services include:
Therapy for Teens & Families – Support for emotional regulation, communication, and self-esteem.
Therapy for Young Adults – Guidance through independence, identity, and stress management.
DBT Skills Training – Practical, effective tools for managing emotions and relationships.
Eating Disorder Treatment – Recovery-focused therapy to rebuild a balanced relationship with food and body image.
Psychological & Academic Assessments – Identifying learning or attention differences and providing actionable recommendations.
My Approach to Therapy
I take a warm, active, and collaborative approach to therapy. I believe meaningful change happens through:
Connection: Building trust and understanding with clients
Clear goals: Establishing realistic, achievable objectives
Active engagement: Applying skills and strategies in daily life
For children and adolescents, I involve families as appropriate to ensure the tools learned in therapy are supported and reinforced at home, creating a shared language for growth and progress.
